The American Weightlifting Association sponsers Olympic-style
weightlifting meets. The AWA holds and supports the only national
championships for youth 6-11 years old. The AWA also offers college
students a chance to pursue a degree at New Mexico State University
and receive training in Olympic weightlifting with the chance to
compete nationally.

decorated Continental Federation, and has been affiliated to the
International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) since its inception in

Masters' Weightlifting
Masters Weightlifting is the Olympic sport of weightlifting for
persons 35 years old or older. Weightlifting is the ultimate sport
of strength and power and should not be confused with powerlifting,
bodybuilding, or general weight training. Weightlifting consists of
two events; the snatch and the clean-and-jerk.

The Weightlifting Hall of Fame contains a diverse history of the
strength sports, their evolution from mythology to the early Olympic
Games.
USA Weightlifting
USA Weightlifting (USAW) is the National Governing Body (NGB) for
Olympic weightlifting in the United States. USAW is a member of the
United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and a member of the
International Weightlifting Federation (IWF). As the NGB, USAW is
responsible for conducting Olympic weightlifting programs throughout
the country.
