When you are starting the game you want to get a head start on you enemy.
The best way is when you learn pottery the first wonder of the world that
you should do is the hanging gardens. It will get you one happy person for
each city. It will also give you 3 improvements in your throne room.
If it seems impossible for you to make money no matter what you do, try
building "Adam Smith's Trading Co.". Once it is built, it will pay for all
buildings whose maintenance is 1 gold. This will significantly improve
your ability to make money.
To gain lots of cash, first you have to build a new city at the enter the
name screen enter new city name as the following _CasH and hold R1 while
entering H and you will have lots of cash.
Choose to build Leonardo's Workshop and Great Library as soon as possible
as this will upgrade all your
civilization's knowledge ahead of the other civilization.
At the beginning of the game, have each city build two warriors. Send the
first warrior out exploring, have the second fortify inside the city. Then
build settlers. Have each city build settlers until you have twenty
cities and each city has a settler developing it. Then build troops to
wander back and forth between your cities to scare off barbarians. Once
you have enough troops (five is enough) have each city begin building a
wonder. The most important wonders to build are the Great Library, Leonardos
Workshop, and the absolute key the Statue of Liberty. Try to get DEMOCRACY
as fast as you can. Build the Statue of Liberty and switch your
government to FUNDALMENTALISM. After you have bought the wonders your
cities were building, start building up your cities with barrack,
temples, city walls, etc. When you get sufficiently built up, switch your
government to DEMOCRACY.
The power of population is immense. As soon as you build settlers, send
them out to populate. When you have about 5 cities then start conquering.
This is like a "free" city if you will. Use the _CasH option to fund
yourself. You should be able to build ALL Wonders of the world there by
increasing your power exponentially. But don't put your cities too close
together as you will cause food shortages. With this "population"
technique if you build up everything and wait to conquer you can build
an army at will, with the money and thusly be able to produce 30 to
40 military each turn.
When you get monarchy, throw a revolution. as soon as the revolution is
over, boost the luxury so the people hold a 'we love the king' day. this
will shoot your game into wild expansion. do this every so often to keep
the game expanding and the people happy. |
